Check out any of the summer missionary positions below for a glimpse into the life of a CSSM Ministries Manitoba seasonal missionary. Also, don’t feel like you need to limit experiencing being a part of God’s family at camp to ‘just summer’. Many of these positions can also be a HUGE blessing in the off-season, as our camps host retreats, work on building projects, and run outreach events.

Summer Missionary Position Descriptions:

Lifeguard

Our camps each need at least two lifeguards to be able to operate with excellence and serve each camper well. Join the beach or poolside team and work on your buddy-system targeting skills while changing lives in the sun!

Cabin Leader

Cabin leaders play a very unique role each week at camp – They have the opportunity to mentor kids and teenagers by living their lives out in front of them, and being there when needed. Cabin leaders are like the ‘camp parents’ to the kids, and their attitude, lifestyle, and belief systems can strongly impact campers in amazing ways throughout the week. Get ready to make some new best friends and sense God’s heart in a whole new way.

Chapel Speaker

Each week, our camps look for an individual or couple to minister the message of Jesus during our chapel services. We are raising up a generation of children who call God their ‘Number One’, and are on the lookout for those passionate about communicating and living out the love of God to children and teenagers!

Program Director

Kids remember the ‘dress up your cabin’ meals, scavenger hunts that end in the mudpit, and the costumed ‘Box Guy’ camp mascot – And it’s our program directors’ responsibility to make those memories stick! Ready to bring the joy of God to the grounds of camp? Get your box costume on and your compassionate, creative heart ready to go!

Maintenance

Those who ensure that the roof stays up, the stove stays cooking, and the water keeps running… These people are GOLD to a camp ministry. Whether it’s a paintbrush, a wrench, a hammer and nails… Those who are wired to build, fix, and beautify are always a valuable contributor to camp, and help make ministry possible in a one of the most practical ways possible!

Kitchen Staff

Joy comes out of the camp kitchen, and all the kids know it – Both in attitude and in taste! If your weapon of choice is a ladle, or you simply wish to try out your culinary muscle, tie on that apron – there’s always a reason for camp meals to become a party!

Horse Staff

‘Down at the barn’ is where our very own cowboys and cowgirls make history and win the hearts of our campers through God’s creation. Ready for the ride?

Skill Leader

Archery, cycling, swimming, canoeing, crafts, horsemanship, paint-balling, sports, slingshots, riflery, nature lore, rafting, BMX biking, drama, media, geocaching, zip-lining, rope courses… the list of camp activities goes on and on, and our skill leaders have the opportunity to impart both life skills and God’s truth through hands-on activities.

Work Crew Leader

Some of our camps run their very own ‘Work Crew’, bringing together a team of youth who are looking for ways to grow their relationship with God, each other, positive mentors… and their muscles! Work Crew teams help out with kitchen duties, janitorial work, maintenance, and outdoor projects, and the strength and bonding of this team depends heavily on having a leader who both identifies with them and helps call them out to be who God has called them to be!

Leadership Development Program/Cabin Leading/Disciples in Training Leader

At CSSM Ministries Manitoba, we are passionate about raising up the next generation to be hungry for God and His heart. Our LDP, CL, and DNT programs are geared toward youth who are looking for the next step in their relationships with God and to being involved in camp ministry. Being real with this group of kids is key – The close relationships leaders build with them can be lifelong opportunities to speak into their lives and see them rise up in strength for their God.

Office Help

Ever seen a duck on a pond, apparently floating serenely, but with webbed feet paddling away like crazy underneath the water? Every well-functioning camp has a busy backroom where you find some dedicated, wise, laughing individuals who can give you dates, details, and dimensions of pretty much, well, anything! They provide those ‘whirring webbed feet’ that keep things well above water and going in a good direction. Every well-functioning camp LOVES these people!
