This is one of those questions where the answer is like a two-sided coin.
On the one side you have the expectations that come with being a summer missionary that you have to consider when you are thinking about volunteering: Do I feel I can be a role model to young lives? Do I have a desire to know God and help others know Him more? Can I work alongside others and not insist on my own way? These are big questions, and while we can sometimes be discouraged by our answers, there is another side of the coin.
All of us, from the most experienced year-round missionary to the rookie summer missionary, are on a journey of becoming more like Jesus – we haven’t arrived yet, and until we do, we will continue to need safe places to grow in our faith. We believe camp is one of those safe places. If you’re at a place of wanting to grow in knowing God more, regardless of where you’re at now, be honest when you apply and let our camp directors assist you in finding a level of responsibility that you will enjoy and also grow your faith in. Each summer, we are excited to see the body of Christ coming together at camp, as each of us rises up to become men and women God is calling us to be – All together.
