I was Work Crew leader this past summer, and during the UGM Family Life Center week, I had two campers come up to me and they had the biggest smiles on their faces I have ever seen! They told me they had accepted Jesus into their lives!! They were so excited about having Jesus in their life, they went around the camp telling everyone they met about their exciting news! God is Good!!

While talking to a camper who has been coming year after year, he explained to me that he really wanted to attend Bible college the following year. This came as a complete shock and blessing because this camper did not come from a Christian home, and had only recently made a profession of faith. It was incredible to see the grace of God changing lives.
The speaker of our Senior High camp spoke of the tragic massacre in Norway this last summer, and made it very personal and put the campers in their shoes by handing out pictures of normal kids like them, and on the back of each picture stated if they were a victim, or survivor, and asked the campers specific questions of those who died and those who lived. The campers had a lot to think about, and it made the girls in my cabin really stop and think what they are doing with their lives, and who they have been spending time with, and what needs to change because we never know how much time God will grant us on this earth. It was great to see them come to the conclusions they did about spending more time with Jesus, and with loved ones. Realizing how precious life is.
I have the privilege of working in the local schools throughout the year, and see many of our campers at these schools. I was burdened for their salvation and prayed a lot about this summer. I was so thankful when a number of these students came to camp for the first time, and four specifically who came to camp and accepted Jesus into their lives. As camp staff we don't get to see who is praying for our campers, and those praying don't always get to be at camp. I found it a real blessing to be on both ends. It was a blessing to be reminded that God has His hand on His children's lives and will see that they are brought to Himself however that happens.

During UGM week I was sitting at the back of the chapel with a camper who was being a disturbance with his cabin. After spending half of the chapel time insulting me and the speaker, he settled down just as the speaker was presenting the Gospel. After listening to that crucial part of the message, he began being distracting again. God had settled him to hear the most important part of the gospel message. Unfortunately, he went home that night, but at least he heard the gospel before he went!
I was a LDP leader, and one of my girls began to cry and was in pain and wouldn't explain it to me. As I prayed for her, I sensed that there was more than she admitted to. As we talked we discussed what it means to truly love. She began to tell me that she has never truly loved before, has had some rough experiences in her 16 years. We talked for a while longer – She broke and experienced God's love for the first time. God's radical love radically changed her life. That weekend she ran and gave her parents a hug for the first time. It was beautiful.

It was a dark night walking back from worship evening.
"How are you, Mark*?" asked Jordan, the cabin leader.
"Jordan, can I use the phone?" the camper responded. "I need to forgive my Dad. I know God can't do anything with me if I don't forgive him. It has been eight years since he left, and all this time I've just been angry."
"We can absolutely get you a phone, are you OK?"
"Yeah, thanks Jordan, I am sorry for bugging you so late."
“Don't worry about it, Mark, that’s why I am here. To help you when I can."
"Thank you"
As programmers during a very fun, hot week, we were trying to come up with a game for the evening, and could not think of one. It was supper and time was running out, and stress was increasing, when BOOM, a vision from God, a brand new water game to keep kids cool, by adding elements from other favorite games. We prepared for our game in record time, and it went wonderful. Kids had a blast! God is Amazing. Bless the Lord, thank-You!

During UGM week, all chaos had broken loose! The weather was so hot that kids hadn’t spent the energy they would have normally at camp. Chapel time was here, kids did not want to go to chapel, and were escaping from everywhere! Once we finally gathered everybody, the speaker was not holding his breath as to how well his message was going to be received. I walked around our chapel building praying like never before – for these kids and the speaker – and that the speaker would be heard. After 3-4 laps, walking very slowly, the kids settled down inside, and the speaker spoke for 35 minutes, and they sat quietly for it all!!! When he was done he said that was not the message he planned to preach! God urged him into preaching the gospel, when in his notes, that was 2 sessions away! That evening 4 campers went home, but they heard the message first!

Weather was really hot, and we decided to do our big wide game right after breakfast. Usually it is after supper, but the kids were needing to spend some energy. Throughout this week, we were experiencing trouble getting the kids into chapel at chapel times. At the end of wide game, we watched a wall of water come across the camp, and we had a flash flood type downpour, everybody RAN INTO the chapel, no one had to leave for any reason! The rain continued through the singing, and slowed to a stop as the speaker started speaking! (the chapel can be real loud when it rains) The sun came out and by the end of chapel, the kids went to their activities and it was a great day! That rain sure was a God thing!!! It was the only rain we had all summer!

In Deschambault Lake there was a girl who was being a bully to most of the kids that were there. I went over to her and asked her why she was doing this and she said she didn't know. Then I asked her how she would feel if she was treated the way she had treated these other kids. She responded by saying that she was always treated like that and she also said that no one loves her. I told her that I loved her and she began to cry. I felt like through that situation God was telling me just what to do. God is so amazing!
